The Manchester Monarchs are one of many attractions students can enjoy in the Manchester area.

For those who are new to Saint Anselm College and do not know what there is to do in the Manchester area, look no further. If you enjoy sports, nature, museums, music, food, acrobatics, or even those would rather just sip some tea, you’ve come to the right place.

For those who enjoy sporting events, there is the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. This stadium is home to the minor league baseball team, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. There is also the newly named SNHU Arena (formerly known as the Verizon Arena), which is home to the Manchester Monarchs, ECHL affiliates of the Los Angeles Kings.

Also at the SNHU Arena, located less than ten minutes away from the St. A’s campus, various musical and acrobatic performances occur. In the upcoming school year there will be artists such as Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, and Eric Church performing, as well as Cirque du Soleil shows, concerts by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the Boston Pops, Salt n Pepa, and Vanilla Ice.

For the food lovers of our community there is the much-loved Mr. Macs Mac n Cheese, as well as Margarita’s Mexican Food, the Bagel Café, Watoy Asian Cuisine, Finnesse Bakery, and Apotheca, a flower and tea shop.

The Currier Museum of Art is also close by, featuring European and American paintings including Picasso, Monet, and O’Keefe. A stop worth making on your trip is the Zimmerman House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Amoskeag Falls is a beautiful location for those who wish to explore nature. Amoskeag Falls is a set of waterfalls located on the Merrimack River. There are walks and hikes as well as educational opportunities about the Fishways.

If you’re looking to get away from the bubble of Saint Anselm College, the Greyhound bus stop, about five minutes from school, will bring you to Boston in just a little over an hour. If you’re planning to travel round-trip, they’ll even give you a student discount.

There is something in Manchester for everyone in the Saint Anselm community. Try something new! You may just fall in love with it.
