Saint Anselm got a chance to showcase some of the talented members of the Fine Arts
department on Feb. 23 at the “Visit with the Artists” event, during which faculty artists got to discuss their work in DIVERGENCE: A Studio Art Faculty Exhibition.

The event featured brief presentations by each artist and a group discussion, followed by a reception during which viewers could ask further questions of the artists and continue viewing the exhibition.

Faculty studio artists at this event included Megan Bogonovich, MFA, adjunct professor of ceramics and sculpture; Josh Dannin, MFA, adjunct professor of digital art and imaging and studio arts technician; Kimberly Kersey-Asbury, MFA, associate professor of studio art, and Elsa Voelcker, MFA, adjunct professor of digital and traditional darkroom photography techniques.

Work by Luke Buffenmyer, MFA, former adjunct professor of digital art, graphic design, typography, and art and design for the web at Saint Anselm College, now assistant professor of art at Mercer University, is featured in the exhibition as well.

Artists spoke about how they chose their works to be involved in the show, their artistic practices, sources of inspiration, and what it’s like to be an artist today.

Assistant Curator of the Alva de Mars Megan Chapel Art Center Maggie Dimock said, “As curators for the exhibition, Fr. Iain MacLellan and I (provided) brief
introductory remarks and facilitated the dialogue between the group and the presenters.”

Concerning the importance of the event, Dimock called the event “a unique opportunity to witness their professors speaking personally about their own work, and engage in a discourse about professional careers and creativity.”

The exhibit will be on view Feb. 3 through March 18.
