Remember the Students

By Emma Bishop and Brandon Pratt, SGA Pres and VP

More than ever before, it’s a great day to be a Hawk. Our home is about to undergo a significant expansion as the College prepares to begin renovations on the Cushing Student Center. Yet, as our community marches forward with this much needed project, it is important that the college remember its students.

We, as the President and Vice President of the Student Government Association, will work relentlessly to make sure that the voices and needs of the student body are not only heard, but are acted upon. In recent days, the Student Government Association has begun conducting a campus-wide parking study in an effort to increase access to conveniently located parking spaces for students. We’re working with college administration to make common-sense changes that are in your best interests, including reducing overnight parking restrictions, redistributing parking permits, and assessing long-term needs for additional parking spaces.

With the loss of Cushing for the foreseeable future, we have also directed the SGA to assess viable options for a new twenty-four hour study location on campus. In the coming weeks, we’ll continue to work with the College administration to ensure that students have access to study locations and printers that are easily accessible. Cushing’s remodeling will serve future Anselmians for years to come; in the meantime, SGA’s top priority remains serving those Anselmians here now.

We are blessed to know that our home is growing. If you have any concerns about the ongoing project or suggestions for how to better help students during the transition, please contact us at [email protected]. Thank you.
