NCAA denies request for hockey to play for D3 title

The NCAA denied a request by Hawks Athletic Director Jim Herlihy and other Division 2 hockey programs to allow them to play for the Division 3 hockey championship. Division 2 has not held a playoff since 1999 because they are only comprised of six teams. St. A’s plays several Division 3 teams already, which is why the request was made. The college has the option to appeal the NCAA’s decision.
