Erin Collins named NE10 Defensive Player of the Week
Senior captain of Saint Anselm’s field hockey team was named Northeast 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25. Collins, a native of Auburn, MA, has been a member of the field hockey team since her freshman year. She is a proven athlete both on and off the field, with her great performances in games as well as in the classroom. Collins consistently has achieved her spot on the Dean’s List in both fall and spring semesters as well as a spot of Northeast-10 Fall and Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Collins has three assists and scored two goals thus far this season, both being game winners for the Hawks.

Saint Anselm alumnus signed by Huntsville Havoc
Peter Sikalis graduated in 2017 from Saint Anselm College where he played for the hockey team for four years. On Sept. 21 it was announced that Sikalis signed with the Huntsville Havoc of Alabama. The Havoc are a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League, which is southern U.S. based minor professional league made up of ten teams. Sikalis played in 104 games as a Hawk. He claimed 24 assists and scored an impressive 21 goals. The Havoc begin their season on Oct. 21 vs Macon. The Hawks will begin on Friday Oct. 27 at home vs Bryn Athyn.  


Nicole White named named NE10 Rookie of the Week
Freshman midfielder Nicole White was named Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week on Sept. 25 for the second time this season. White, who grew up in Danvers, MA, is one of the newest members of Saint Anselm’s women’s soccer team. She has started in six of seven games this season and has 7 assists so far. Although she has yet to score a goal for the Hawks, she has certainly done her part in setting up 7 for them.

Creation of the “Hawks Soar Higher” Award
Daron Montgomery, Saint Anselm’s athletic director, recently announced the creation of the Hawks Soar Higher Award. This award was created by the Department of Athletics and will be awarded to two individuals who are active in student-athlete affairs and contribute to their success. The award will be awarded every month to two individuals who are employed by Saint Anselm outside of athletics. This month’s recipients were Peter Hagerty of the College’s housekeeping and physical plan team and Michelle Lavoie of Dining Services who have both done wonders for athletes in Stoutenburgh and Davison Hall over the years.
