During the holiday season, everyone expects to see lines at shopping malls and airports as preparations begin for the numerous festivities that take place in the month of December. Luckily, the lines at Davison do not seem to follow the same trend. Unless, of course, it is the night of the annual Holiday Feast.
On December 6th, Davison will close at 2:30 in order to prepare for the giant meal that will take place that night. Beginning at 4:30, the Holiday Feast will host most Saint Anselm students.
According to the event page on the school website, the menu includes Chicken Crème Brie, Beef Tenderloin, and Seafood Newburg as well as sides and deserts.
All of the preparations are done the night before and the day of the Holiday Feast, allowing enough time for all of the cooking and baking to be done while still maintaining the standard of freshness that the dining staff holds so dear.
Supervisor Leslie Tsiorbas says that the staff enjoys making the preparations, and not just because of the exceptional spirit surrounding it. “I can tell you this,” Ms. Tsiorbas said, “The staff loves doing this, because they love the students.”
In a school placed number ten throughout the nation for dining services, it comes as no surprise that the staff cares deeply about the students. Rosemary Stackpole, the Director of Dining Services, always takes students’ wants and needs into consideration, and not only during the holiday celebrations.
She, as well as the other managers, checks in with the staff throughout the day to be sure that everything is running smoothly. She personally reads every single napkin note left by students. Great attention is put into prices, menu choices, and student concerns, making not only this annual event, but every meal, a student-centered ordeal.
And, the students certainly appreciate it. The line for the Holiday Feast often travels out of both sets of doors to Davison, which unfortunately leaves people waiting in line for an extended amount of time before finally being let into the feast.
Nearly every student comes to enjoy the delicious food and excitement as the last day of classes for the semester comes to a close.
Friends make annual plans to go together and wait in line, and prospective students are told about the feast as a major selling point. Many students compare this to the infamous Christmas Feast of the Harry Potter novels, making it nothing less than magical.
As an annual tradition, the Holiday Feast is loved by students and staff alike, making for memories that last long after exams.
