As my college experience draws to a close, it is essential to reflect on what has been a truly remarkable experience.
During my four years I have certainly have had my ups and downs, but with the support of so many great people, the down times became manageable. The three groups of people that have been my pillars of support have been Residential Life, Athletics, and my class council.
My fellow RAs and I have been through it all together and it was always reassuring knowing there was always someone who would have my back, especially at 1:30 AM on a Saturday night.
The student-athletes and staff in athletics have been truly remarkable to me. The support they have shown me, and the opportunities they have given me, have been significant and appreciated.
Lastly, is the Class of 2013 Council. This group of individuals has turned into a second family for me. This council NEVER gave up even when our backs were against the wall. They also consistently worked incredibly hard to ensure that our class was represented in a professional and accurate manner.
Upon graduation I will start work as the Director of Media Relations for the North Shore Navigators, which is a summer collegiate baseball team in my hometown of Lynn, Mass. In the fall, I will return to my high school as the new assistant coach for the boys’ soccer team.
When the New Year comes around I will look for a job in either communications or the Massachusetts State House. To the surprise of no one, my end goal is to one day become the Mayor of Lynn.
As I conclude, my closing thought would be that of some advice. If you have ever asked me “How are you?” then I most likely responded with the phrase “living the dream.” I answered this way on purpose. I was always living the dream because I truly enjoyed what life had to offer me. That is what I want to leave with you: Live your dream. Appreciate the small things in life that make you happy. Life is too short, so keep your head up and keep moving forward.
