Every year, Saint Anselm College hosts a weekend dedicated for students and their families to come to the hilltop. Family weekend this year will be held from October 24 to October 26.

Students can show their families around the beautiful campus that they call home. Families can enjoy the many wonderful things that this college has to offer like sports, extracurricular activities, food, friendly staff members, and don’t forget about the academics too.

Saint Anselm College encourages families to come join the college for the weekend to learn more about the school and how one’s loved ones are doing here on campus. Going away to college is a life changing experience, but Saint Anselm College makes the hilltop a community, a place that students often refer to as their second home.

The first thing families should do after they arrive at Saint Anselm College for the weekend is to register at the Dana Center. The college will be offering many great activities to enjoy as a family during this weekend, and a list of options will be provided.

On Friday, October 24th, Saint Anselm has two events to check out. At 7:30 pm, the women’s volleyball team will be playing against Saint Rose College, which will be held in the Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. Then, at 8:00 pm, the Abbey Players will be presenting their production of “Unwritten” in the Dana Center.

There are also plenty of activities to partake in on Saturday, October 25th. The Family Fun Run/Walk starts at 10 o’clock in the morning. At 11:30 am, the Family Reception, where families can meet Dr. Steven R. DiSalvo as well as staff and faculty of the college will take place in Cushing North Lounge. Yes, there will be food.

At Grappone Stadium starting at 12 o’clock, the women’s field hockey team will be playing against Southern New Hampshire University. Then from 12 to 2 o’clock, grab a bite to eat on the campus green during the Southern Bar-B-Que catered by New Hampshire’s own KC’s Rib Shack.

After lunch on Saturday, go watch Saint Anselm’s women’s volleyball team play versus Le Moyne College in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium or enjoy open skate at Sullivan Arena from 1:30 to 3.

Also don’t miss the Abbey Players’ second performance of their musical “Unwritten” at 2 o’clock. Then at 4:30, come to the Abbey Church for mass.

If you’re not tired out by then, there are also things to do Saturday night. At 8:30 in the Dana Center, go watch and be mesmerized by Shimshi: Mind Play. The magician was on NBC’s talent show America’s Got Talent in 2008 and he also had his own show in Las Vegas. He also appeared on shows such as The Ellen Show and Live With Regis and Kelly. After his performance, families and students can attend ‘Trivia Night-125 Years of Anselmian Life’ at 10 in the Coffee Shop to see how well they know Saint Anselm College.

The last day of the weekend, Sunday, October 26th is when the annual Sunday Brunch at Davison Hall takes place from 9:30 to 1:30. Tickets are needed and can be purchased either in advance or right before the brunch at Davison Hall. Please take note that if you do not buy a ticket, you can not eat at Davison until after 1:30.

To close out Family Weekend, there will be a mass at 11 in the morning on Sunday in the Abbey Church. Families are encourage to take part in any all all activities. If you find between all these fun activities that you have a little free time, show your family a little of Manchester; go shopping on Elm Street, or stop to eat at the Red Arrow.

Family weekend is only two weeks away, so start looking to buy tickets and plan a great weekend!
