Ever wondered where to go off campus for food? For any meal, the Red Arrow Diner is a great choice. The diner boasts a 24 hour service window and has something for everyone. Alongside their large menu, the diner is an award winner; holding New Hampshire’s Best Breakfast and Best Late-Night Eats.
The local diner opened its doors in October 1922, thanks to founder David Lamontagne, right here in Manchester. Currently there are four Red Arrow Diners in the state: Manchester, Londonderry, Nashua, and Concord.
Playing a major part in Manchester’s identity, the diner is a landmark destination for many celebrities and politicians.
The diner serves as one of Manchester’s distinct attractions; not only is it politically diverse, but it provides a wide-range of affordable options. College and high school students frequent the diner after sporting events and concerts, and celebrities go to experience Manchester. The Red Arrow Diner puts an emphasis on the culture of New Hampshire and provides an outlet for national and communal discourse.
The Red Arrow Diner is where NH Governor Chris Sununu announced his endorsement for Nikki Haley during a Fox & Friends interview. NIHOP and the Red Arrow Diner represent the political importance of Manchester — a politically diverse and open community.
When asked about meeting any celebrities, one waitress answered, “I’ve met Adam Sandler, I’ve had coworkers meet Donald Trump, Kevin Cosner, a couple of the candidates running for the primaries like Robert Kennedy Jr. There’s been a lot of people along the timeline.”
A waitress there named Jenn, she has been working there for over nine years. Her most memorable star she waited for was Kevin Costner. That same day, she saw Lindsey Graham and Trump’s Campaign Manager.
According to Jenn, Rudy Guiliani is a regular at the Red Arrow, he had just visited a few weeks ago. The Sandler family also stops by the diner very frequently.
The Red Arrow was in the show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dines,” in season one, episode seven “House Specials.”
When asked about the significance of the diner, Jenn, the waitress, explained, “the Red Arrow used to be next to the old headquarters of the Union Leader, until they moved. A lot of politicians and writers would circle through that part of the city all the time because of it…people just want to eat, even politicians at 2 am.”
