Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the Anselmian Winter Ball this past weekend. On Saturday, January 26th, 663 students and guests, in their black and white attire, flooded into the Carr Center for the dance. SGA sold 515 tickets during presale, meaning that over 150 tickets were sold at the door.
SGA President, Lyndsay Robinson ’14, commented, “I think the dance was very well received by students. Students were excited about it. For being the first school dance, I was impressed with the amount of people in attendance.”
The DJ for the ball was hired from Party Rock Entertainment. This production company also hosted Club SAC during Spring Weekend last year. SGA heard of the company through Campus Activity Board (CAB), who met them at the annual NACA Conference last year.
In a matter of hours, SGA was able to transform the Carr Center into a winter wonderland complete with strobe lights, wall projections, and snowflake lights along the white curtains lining the dance floor.
SGA also hired a photographer to take complimentary pictures for students and guests. SGA wanted to provide students with a memorable night in the hopes that the Winter Ball will be the beginning of a new custom at Saint Anselm College.
“Shaun and I ran on a platform that we wanted to create more traditions for Saint Anselm College students. We do not have many school wide events, so we decided to kick off the spring semester with the Anselmian Winter Ball. I am hoping to come back in thirty years, and the tradition will still be here!” said Robinson.
SGA has many more events planned for this semester, but they are not yet finalized.
“It is going to be a semester to remember. We are looking forward to Spring Weekend where we will be hosting a performer for a spring concert!” commented Robinson.
