After reviewing several proposals over the past few years, the Board has just approved the new curriculum. The updated curriculum will be implemented in the upcoming 2013-2014 school year, after the Executive Committee approves the financial analysis. The current 5 course 3 credits course load will changed to 4 course 4 credits. With this new curriculum, the first year humanities program will also be changed and renamed Conversatio. The news came on February 25 in a school wide e-mail sent from Father Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B. DeFelice is confident that this modernized curriculum will enable Saint A’s to further its mission in the twenty-first century.
In an email to students, faculty, and staff, Father Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B, stated “I, too, am very grateful to all who worked on various proposals through the last several years. Now that the approval process is over, I think we can all take some time to celebrate the accomplishment and to begin the very creative work that will be necessary to develop new courses for the core, to identify and implement appropriate faculty development opportunities related to the core, and to move forward with a pilot of the new first year humanities course, Conversatio, in fall semester of 2013-2014.”
