The Student Government Association’s Inauguration ushered in new group of class and college leaders. The inauguration took place on March 24, and also included an awards portion of the event.
The members of the class of 2014 inducted include President Guy Sergi, Vice President Colleen Grant, Secretary Meghan Tucker, Treasurer Gina Tregalia, and Senators Caleb Mason, Kelsey Ouelette, and Laura Sullivan. There is still an open senate seat for the class of 2014.
For the Class of 2015, those include Dave McKillop as President, Colleen Tracy as Vice President, Dominque Del Prete as Secretary, Kyleigh Judge as Treasurer, and Dan Bolger, Marcello Cugno, Kayla Hart, and Pat Reidy as Senators. The sophomore class also elected Maria Luongo to the Fundraising Chair and Sara Marden as the Activities Chair.
The Class of 2016 has elected Nolan Varee as President, Colin Mahoney as Vice President, Tyler Pare as Secretary, and Karen Ejiofor, Alvin E. Nix III, Matthew Rocheleau, Brian Salvie as Senators.
Student Government Association also inaugurated a new Executive Board, with Juniors Lyndsay Robinson and Stephen Bowen as President and Vice President, respectively. Junior Katelin Brouillette was sworn in as Chief of Staff, and Junior Richard Serino was approved as Secretary of Internal Procedures.
Freshman Zachary Camenker was sworn in as Secretary of Public Relations, and Junior Jorge Gonzalez was approved as Secretary of Club Affairs. The Secretary and Assistant Secretary of Programming are Junior Christina Dooley and Sophomore Brooke Judd, who are also members of the Campus Activities Board (CAB).
The positions of Secretary General, Secretary of Finance, and Chair of Welfare were filled by Katlyn Delaney (’16), Mackenzie Douglas (’15), and Jenna Levesque (’16), respectively. Junior Alexandra Odegaard was appointed Chair of Academics and Freshman Karen Ejiofor was appointed Chair of Room and Board.
Awards were also given out to various Professors and students based on their work and achievements throughout the year. Professor Jacques Baudot of the Politics Department was awarded the Abbot Gerald McCarthy Award for Professor of the Year; the award was voted on by the student body. Jean Couture of Student Activities was awarded the Dr. Constance Richards Award, and the award was voted on by SGA President and former Vice President Lyndsay Robinson and Shaun O’Halloran, respectively.
The Emergency Medical Services Team was awarded the Father Peter Guerin Award for Club of the Year, an award voted on by the SGA Senate. The Senate also voted on the Dr. Joseph Horton SGA Member of the Year Award, which was presented to Juniors Alex Odegaard and Lyndsay Robinson. Members of the Senior Class Evan Dell’Olio, Joe Gill, Myungwoo Lee, Joe Rispoli, Marko Samardzic, Sarah Tebo, and Nick Vilandre were also honored for serving SGA throughout their four years at Saint Anselm College.
The new members of SGA held their first Senate Meeting on April 7, and will continue to serve through the 2013-2014 Academic Year.
