Vincent D’Amato, senior on the Saint Anselm College Men’s Hockey Team, is currently doing an internship at Stark Brewing Company in Manchester, New Hampshire.  Before Stark, he was an intern at Dell EMC Corporation in Massachusetts, which sparked his decision to work in sales after graduation.

Stark Brewing Company was founded in 1994 by Manchester native, Peter Telge. Stark was the first brewery in the city of Manchester and also features a restaurant on site.

According to Vince, he chose to work at Stark for his senior year because he thought it would be a fun and cool experience. He also wanted to learn more about micro brewing. In addition, Vince stated he wanted to further his knowledge about sales and thought this would be a great opportunity to do so.

Vince explains his typical day as, “My days are spent cold calling potential customers, inviting current customers and businesses to our Grand Re-Opening Party, promoting certain events, and helping with overall marketing tasks.”

We are currently in election year for President and New Hampshire is a main hub for politicians to come campaign, but Vince has yet to meet any politicians. He did say that there is a chance he will meet one in the future because Spark has invited many politicians to an upcoming party.

He and a few other interns have started a ‘Thursday Night College Night’, while working at Spark. During that night, college students, who are of a legal drinking age can buy beer for $2, vodka drinks for $5, fifty-cent wings, and half priced appetizers, according to Vince.

From working at Spark so far, Vince says he has learned that running a restaurant or a brewing company is not easy and takes great enthusiasm. He also explained that he has learned a lot from the owner of Spark, Peter, about how a small business is operated.
