As the school year kicks off, the Class of 2028 is buzzing with energy and
enthusiasm for their upcoming elections. With a slate of impressive candidates seeking
out key positions, students have the opportunity to shape their high school experience
right from the start. Setting the tone for the next four years, voting took place from
Thursday, Sept. 19, to Friday, Sept. 20, via a link sent to student emails
by the SGA Internal Procedures. Here we’ll take a closer look at the candidates running
for office.
Running for the position of Class President, we have Giles Bean and Meagan
Lee standing as tough contenders. Giles Bean, through his determined voice, promises
to advocate for the Freshmen Class in remarkable ways—and he has extensive
experience to prove it! Holding previous leadership roles in class council and National
Honor Society, as well as being co-captain of the debate team, he is undoubtedly a
strong candidate for driving change.
With her eloquence and grace, Meagan Lee emphasizes the importance of collecting class input to create the best possible experience. Lee’s background of being a student representative, always emphasizing the values of faith, growth, and community, demonstrates her dedication of representing every voice of the student body. Both of these candidates have the utmost, unabridged potential to maximize positive change for the Class of 2028.
Jocelyn Green, running for the position of Vice President, is yet another
experienced candidate. With a clear vision for the Freshmen Class’ impending journey,
she aims to propose new ideas that benefit the class as well as the Saint Anselm
community as a whole. She intends to use her leadership qualities to fulfill a
dependable and visionary term, and is a strong choice for this position.
The position of Secretary is a tough decision, where voters must choose between
Madelyn Dugan and Melanija Kukoska. Given her organizational skills and
self-discipline, Dugan is an excellent candidate, not to mention her attentive nature and
experience being Class President throughout her high school years.
Kukoska, on the other hand, is also a strong choice. With her genuine passion for
helping out the student body, shown by her background in student government
and National Honor Society, she also has unique strengths that will propose
a challenging decision for student voters.
Lastly, we have the position of Senator, reserved for four innovative and
collaborative minds, of which Charlie Savage and Isabella Siwko are candidates for.
Savage, known for his wit and charm, can truly achieve anything he sets his mind to,
attested to by his background of organizing community events such as blood drives and
recycling programs, and raising money for various causes. His auditory rhetoric makes
him an especially good choice for office. Equally impressive to Savage is Siwko, having
demonstrated her leadership capabilities being captain of a varsity golf team and honor
society. She’s clearly a dedicated individual, being a voice for her classmates and
fostering a strong spirit amongst the student body. With these two candidates, the Class
of 2028 is sure to have strong representation in the Senate.
Thanks to these outstanding candidates, the Class of 2028 positions itself for an
exciting, dynamic next four years. Each of these candidates bring unique skills and
visions, leading the class toward a vibrant college experience. After reflecting on the
aspirations of each candidate, students have made their decisions, and the future looks
unquestioningly bright for the Freshmen Class. Be sure to support your peer leaders in
their endeavors and always remember that your voice matters!
