- What good things can we expect if your party’s candidate wins?
Having gone through and read Kamala Harris’s policy proposals, I can comfortably say that everyone in America will be better off when she is President. Two specific groups are people who want to own a home and those who want to have a kid. To help you buy a home Harris wants to give many first-time homebuyers $25,00 to help with the first downpayment. For many families having tens of thousands of dollars on hand is incredibly difficult to manage, and this will help break that barrier down. She also plans to empower the Justice Department to fight corporations who fix the price on rent, making affording housing unnaturally costly, as well as giving tax breaks to incentivize building more houses. More houses mean more people can own a home. It’s really just that easy. For those hoping to have kids one day, Harris intends to restore the child tax credit. This means if you make less than a million dollars, you’ll get assistance in buying the essentials that drain the pocketbooks of those with kids 5 years old and younger. In addition, Harris plans to offer a tax cut to parents in the first year of a child’s life. That first year of life is the most expensive so this is a game changer. These plans will improve the lives of millions of Americans, you included.
- What bad things can we expect if your party’s candidate loses?
In addition to having read Kamala Harris’s plans, I also read Donald Trump’s. If you want to as well, check out Agenda 47 on his website. Here are some highlights that may affect you personally. Trump plans to remove federal funding from colleges around the country and instead make an online college program with a government designed curriculum to replace them. For some reason I feel as though trying to replace the idea of going to college with watching video’s online isn’t very great. Trump also wants “warrior lawyers” to eliminate all environmental regulations on businesses, stop subsidizing clean energy, and get rid of the Environmental Protection Agency. As someone who enjoys our state’s natural beauty, as well as a big fan of breathing clean air, this is rather concerning. We can also expect congress to be rather irrelevant to a Trump presidency, as he wants to restore impoundment power. Impoundment power means that if the congress gives money to an agency and tells them to do something with it, the president can just not use the money. In other words, the president doesn’t need to carry out laws if he doesn’t want to. If you are a fan of Clean Air, Going to College, and Checks and Balances, maybe don’t vote for Donald Trump.
- What good things can we expect if the opposing party’s candidate wins?
This is the hardest question for sure. One good thing that may happen if Trump wins the presidency is that we MAY see a drop in drug trafficking across the southern border. Trump has proposed we send the US Military into Mexico to destroy the cartels in their base of operations. On paper this sounds nice, but there are complications, such as the risk of innocent people dying as we saw happen when Israel went into Gaza. There is also the risk of starting a war with Mexico, as Trump has said he will send in the troops whether or not the Mexican Government says we can. Now, if those roadblocks can be navigated, this could be a very good thing for the US and go a long way to stopping the drug crisis. Am I skeptical if it would work, yes. Do I hope it would work, also yes.

- What good things can we expect if your party’s candidate wins?
If Donald Trump wins the election, we can expect prices on food and gas to drop. While Trump will not have direct control over the prices, past experience has taught us that he has better economic policies which have lowered the cost of various goods. We can also expect the problem at the southern border to be cleaned up and the threats which have come through the border, such as terrorists and fentanyl, to be neutralized. If Trump wins we should expect a stronger foreign policy based on Ronald Reagan’s old adage “Peace through strength.” We can expect that America will no longer be taken as a joke on the world stage and the countless wars that have sprung up under Joe Biden’s presidency will be negotiated to peaceful resolutions.
- What bad things can we expect if your party’s candidate loses?
If Donald Trump loses, we can expect two bad things. First, Trump will most likely throw a temper tantrum about how the election was rigged. Second, we can expect another long four years of an incompetent leader who will leave the working and middle classes out to dry. We can expect another four years of a failed foreign policy which will likely increase the number of wars and unrest in the world. If Kamala Harris wins, we can expect a radical president who will turn the justice system against those she disagrees with, and throw eighty year old grandmas in jail for saying a Rosary outside of Planned Parenthood. But, at least she’ll laugh as she does it.
- What good things can we expect if the opposing party’s candidate wins?
If Kamala Harris wins, I don’t think there is much good that can be expected. We are unfortunately long past the days of Herbert Hoover and Al Smith or John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, where we could be sure either way that the President would work for the interests of all Americans. If Kamala Harris wins, I am sorry to say that I do not expect much good to come of it. Perhaps, she will stay true to her word and stop taxing the tips of working-class Americans. But, I doubt this will happen as she cast the tie-breaking vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, which made the statute on taxing tips stricter. Perhaps she will stand up to China and keep tariffs on imported goods that hurt the farmers in the heartland. Again, I doubt this will happen and if it does, I am sure there will be concessions made. If Kamala Harris wins, I wish her the best of luck and I will pray for her wisdom in governing. As the letter to Saint Timothy says, “I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men: For kings, and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
