On Monday, April 8, 2013, five Saint Anselm College students were named to the ECAC All-Academic teams. All on hockey teams, the students are juniors Nick Dries, Courtney Winters, and Lindsey Brown as well as sophomores Liam McKillop and Sean Jenkins.
To be named to the All-Academic Teams, each student is required to have finished one year of college, maintained a grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have played in at least half of the team’s games of the season. All goalies must have dressed for 33 percent of the games of the most recent season.
85 students were named to the Men’s All-Academic team this year, while the Women’s team had 93 players awarded.
Dries, from Commercial Township, Michigan, was a successful goalkeeper this season, stopping 247 of 276 shots. He has been named NE-10 Goalie of the Week several times this season, as well as being awarded the ECAC East Goalie of the week twice. Along with these honors, he was nominated to the NE-10 All-Conference Team.
Courtney Winters from Swampscott, Massachusetts is a forward from the Women’s team. She had 43 points and 22 goals this season, with 102 career points. She was named to the CCM East Region All-America Second Team, the ECAC All-Conference First Team and has been honored three times as the ECAC Player of the Week.
Junior Lindsey Brown is a goaltender from Mounds View Minnesota. She stopped 327 pucks out of 353 shots with five shutouts. She has been named ECAC Goalie of the Week.
McKillop is a forward for the Men’s hockey team from New York, New York. He scored sixteen times this season and sixteen assists, with a thirteen game point streak. He was also named to the NE-10 All-Conference team and honored as a NE-10 Player of the Week.
Sean Jenkins, a forward from Boston, Massachusetts, missed only one game this season and tallied a total of seven points. Additionally, he scored the game-winning goal against Babson.
Having five players on the All-Academic Teams is a huge accomplishment for both the Men’s and Women’s hockey teams, and is certainly an achievement for the Athletics Department overall.
