Both the Men and Women’s Lacrosse teams have been under way for a few weeks, putting their fall training to good use. With all of the late-winter snow, the teams were playing in low temperatures and icy turf for the first part of their season. They have been enjoying their playing time in the nicer weather these past couple of weeks.
The Women’s Lacrosse team, after Saturday, April 6th, is 7-2, after losing to New Haven by one point.
The team had a seven game winning streak after losing their first game at Long Island Post University. Overall, the season has been very successful.
Three players have taken home NE-10 awards. Freshman Jane Bunn won her first Goalkeeper of the week earlier this season. Fellow freshman Caitlin Villareal picked up the Rookie of the Week honor, and sophomore Marissa Daly received the Player of the Week award.
The Women’s team will be playing their next home game Saturday, April 20th against Le Moyne.
The Men’s team’s current record is 2-6. They won against Assumption College and Bentley, and fought valiantly throughout the season.
Senior Jonathan O’Reilly was chosen as the NE-10 Goalkeeper of the week earlier this season, partially because of his personal record of stopping 20 of the 29 shots on net against Adelphi. This success contributes to his record of being the second highest shot saver in the league.
The Men’s team will play on the Hilltop on April 13th against American International University. Be sure to stop by and cheer on both the teams as they wrap up their seasons!
