Saint Anselm Men’s Tennis has had a very eventful season, and they are heading into their final few games as the Spring semester nears its end. Highlights from the season thus far have included wins at Lemoyne and Salem State and a 5-4 win against Colby Sawyer College. In the Fall, the team participated in a doubles tournament at Stonehill College, and every tier of doubles teams excelled.
The season so far, has been tough with losses against difficult competition such as SNHU and Merrimack College, but the team has not stopped persevering. Every time the Hawks have faced a demoralizing loss, they have managed to compose themselves and crank out another solid win.
“We fought hard all year, and we are looking to close out the season strong” said Sophomore Kyle White.
Top doubles player Kyle White won some big matches throughout the year, including a singles win at Saint Michael’s and a doubles win with partner Will Condon against Salem State. Such individual and team performances from White have been key to the team’s success and have lead this season to be an instant classic and one of perseverance and fortitude.
“Don’t let Kyle White’s lanky appearance deceive you,” commented Sophomore Conor Mclaughlin, “His arms swing with the force of a thousand hurricanes.”
Senior Joe Zuchhi has also lead the team this year as captain with leadership coming from co captain Senior Michael Hanna as well. The team has worked together on and off the court due to their leadership, despite some tough losses this season.
The Saint Anselm Men’s Tennis team face Franklin Pierce in their last match of the year and are looking to close out the season with a final win. The team is currently holding a 3-7 record, but wins at Lemoyne and Salem State were by a large margin, showing their tenacity on the court. The Saint Anselm Men’s Tennis team has shown that no matter what the results, they will continue to fight and put up numbers, looking to be a competitive force in next year’s season.
