The Saint Anselm women’s ice hockey team continued their hot start to the season with a pair of dominant wins over the Lady Ravens of Franklin Pierce University, this past weekend in Thomas F. Sullivan Arena.

Although the opposers scored first in Friday night’s affair, the Hawks answered with a goal in the first period, before pounding out four in the second period and three in the third, capping off eight straight goals for the Hawks before Franklin Pierce scored in the final five minutes of the game, too little too late.

Junior Jamie Gottwald scored her first two goals of the season, while sophomore Katy Meehan scored a pair of goals for the Hawks. Four other Hawks joined in on the scoring fun, as the Hawks blew out the Ravens 8-2.

The teams met up again the following night. The results remained the same with the Hawks coming out triumphant by a score of 5-2. The Hawks came out hot, scoring the only two goals of the first period. Junior Amanda Conger scored her second goal in as many games, followed by goals from Meehan, junior Megan Klaus, and freshman Amanda Nylander.

Conger capped off the scoring barrage with an empty net goal with just 20 seconds remaining in the game. The Hawks move to 4-0-1 on the season and will look to continue their success in a two-game weekend series with the Eagles of Post University this upcoming weekend. Franklin Pierce drops their first two games of the season falling to 4-2.
