Dining on the Hilltop is a staple of the experience at Saint Anselm. The college has always taken pride in what it offers for dining. Most of all, the coffee shop is the go to spot for students to grab a meal or snack with their friends at the end of a long day of classes and work. While everyone loves the coffee shop, there is a consensus in the student body. That consensus is that the coffee shop should be open on Sundays. Many students find that the food offerings on Sundays are rather lackluster at times, leading for many to get food elsewhere off campus. For those that can’t afford off campus food, there are no options for food after 7pm every Sunday. Wouldn’t the college like for some more revenue and income? You could open it from say 5pm and close it at 10pm or so. This is a simple solution to the issue of dining on campus. More importantly, it does give students another place to go on Sundays after mass or after study sessions. Every weekend my editors and I always have the conversation of “wouldn’t it be great if the coffee shop was open on Sundays after our meetings?” It would be great for people to go to the coffee shop after mass on Sunday nights. If the college doesn’t want to do that then they should extend the Davison hours on Sunday nights. There really should be an excuse to not do this. The student body deserves to be treated the same during the weekend as they do during the week in terms of dining services.
