Despite the snowy weather this past Sunday, thirty eight juniors and seniors were inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, a national honor society for Catholic colleges.

The induction began on the morning of Feb 24 at the 11:00 am mass, which was given by Father Jonathan DeFelice, O.S.B. Following the mass, a brunch was held in the coffee shop for the inductees and their families. The brunch also gave the inductees an opportunity to speak with the monks and professors who were attending the induction ceremony.

The induction began at 1:00 pm in the North Lounge of Cushing, and began with a welcome from Professor Montague Brown of the Philosophy Department, who serves as the Tau Chapter President of Delta Epsilon Sigma. Father Augustine Kelly, O.S.B., then offered a prayer for the induction ceremony.

The main address of the induction ceremony was given by Meredith Cook, a New Hampshire native and a member of the Saint Anselm College class of 1999. Cook currently serves as the Director of the Office of Public Policy for the Diocese of Manchester.

Cook gave a very personal address, detailing her dedication to service and commending the newest members of Delta Epsilon Sigma on their various community service endeavors.

Cook also discussed the role that prayer and faith has played in her life, citing the several instances in her life she has turned to prayer, such as using prayer to decide whether she should accept the position for the Diocese of Manchester.

Following her speech, the inductees were instructed to stand for the Ritual of Induction, in which they state that they seek wisdom and use wisdom for the service of others. Students were then called up to receive the certificates and pins for the organizations, and the ceremony concluded with a Benediction from Father Jonathan.

The members of the Class of 2013 that were inducted are: Alexandria Bouchard, Paul Burns, Sedona Chinn, Lydia Fortin, Rebecca Golden, Sarah Haigh, Britta Haley, Kristin Harper, Aileen Hickey, Joshua Lee-Masiello, Kennan MacArthur, Kiersten Robert, Gianpoalo Rufo, Mary Trahan, Christin Vacca, and Isabella Villani.
