Saint Anselm students packed the auditorium at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics to hear a panel of Alumni speak about career advice on Thursday evening, Sept 26 for the “Get Connected, Stay Connected Forum.”

The event was organized as part of the college’s Homecoming Weekend events, as well as celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Kevin Harrington Student Ambassador Program.

The Program was designed to give students a unique opportunity to meet and network with various politicians, media correspondents, authors and other speakers that visit the Institute.

Student Ambassadors help organize, host and run these various events and speakers at the NHIOP.

For this Forum, there were 5 panel discussions led by led by Saint Anselm alumni who discussed their work in the fields of politics, communications, business, law and journalism.

During each session, 4-5 ambassadors would speak about their jobs and advice for current St. Anselm students.

Current employee of the Institute and fellow alumnus, Kevin Ward ’12 moderated each of the five sessions.

Alumnae Lauren Cooljian ‘10 sat on the journalism panel to talk about her work as a general assignment reporter for WBEZ in Chicago, IL.

“I spoke with a lot of budding journalists at the end of the event and it was so wonderful,” she said. “It was very inspiring to see young Anselmians figuring out their career.”

Senior Kayla Burke, a newly appointed Ambassador to the Institute discussed her take on the event.

“As a senior, it was very eye opening to hear about all of the opportunities out there,” she said. “I learned that you shouldn’t rule out anything, because according to the panel—you never know where you could be in 5 years.”
