Elections for SGA president and vice-president as well as the Core Council are coming up in February.

The president and vice-president roles offer leadership opportunities for students who are interested in representing the student body to the faculty and administration.

The duties of the president include being the Chair of the Executive Committee and sitting on the Advisory Council with President DiSalvo.

The vice-president of SGA is responsible for running the Student Senate meetings as well as participating in the executive board.

The president and vice-president run for election as a team and work together closely throughout their term.

For Core Council in SGA there are seven positions available to each class: president, vice-president, secretary, and four senators.

The Core Council members are elected by their class and are responsible for addressing the needs of the individual classes they represent in SGA.

In order to be eligible to run for election, students must be full-time, have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA and have studied at Saint Anselm the past three semesters.

Students who are interested can attend information sessions as well as email SGA with specific questions.

The information night for president and vice-president is Feb. 11 in the SGA room in Cushing at 8:00 pm.

This gives prospective candidates the chance to ask questions and learn more about the positions. Candidates then attend a session Feb. 19 at 8:00 pm in Perini to respond to questions from the student body.

This offers candidates the opportunity to present themselves to their classmates and demonstrate their capability for the position.

Elections are held from Feb. 25-26, with ballots available in Davison from 12:00-7:00 pm and Coffee shop 7:00-9:00 pm.

The dates for the Class Council elections begin with an information night Feb. 23 at 8:00 pm in the SGA room in Cushing, with speeches March 11 and elections March 18-19, with ballots available in Davison and Coffee shot within the same time slots.

The new president and vice-president are inaugurated on March 22nd and the new Class Council members are sworn in the same day.

Also, SGA held the Winter White-Out party on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 9:00 pm-12:00 am in the Carr center. The event was both a dance and a show with two DJs, a rap duo, an LED robot, an aerialist, and a contortionist.

β€œIt was a unique event that we have never brought to campus before,” said JJ Courtney, member of CAB and SGA.”
