Congratulations Saint Anselm Debate Team!

St. Anselm College hosted the 30th annual Jack Lynch debate tournament on Saturday, February 11th. There were 17 colleges and universities from 11 states in attendance at the online tournament. They were Bowling Green State University (Ohio), Elgin Community College (Illinois), John Carroll University (Ohio), Butler University (Indiana), Bethel College (Kansas), North Central College (Illinois), West Chester University (Pennsylvania), Dordt University (Iowa), University of West Florida, Queens College (New York), Otterbein University (Ohio), Western Kentucky University, Sterling College (Kansas), Hofstra University (New York), Seton Hall University (New Jersey), Harvard University (Massachusetts) and St. Anselm College.
Congratulations to the St. Anselm team which came in 1st place in the overall Debate Sweepstakes with 70 points. There were four teams tied for 2nd place in Debate Sweepstakes, with 30 points each: John Carrol University, Butler University, Bowling Green State University and University of West Florida.
Our novice team had an excellent day. Lucas Edwards reached the Semifinal Round, Kellan Barbee and Bella Uva both had 2-1 records, and Maren Riley won against Univ. of West Florida. Our open (varsity) division team was outstanding. Katie Monahan reached the Final round and was 3rd place speaker, Nathanial Crane reached the Semifinals and was awarded 1st place speaker, and James Maloney had a 2-1 record.
