Garcia wins Masters with sudden death playoff victory

Professional golfer Sergio Garcia secured his first green jacket after he won the 2017 Masters on Sunday April 9th. Garcia defeated Justin Rose in a sudden death playoff round after two holes. Garcia and Rose showed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament, even during their final round in which they directly competed against each other. At the age of 37, Sergio’s Masters win was the first major title of his career.  His victory earned him well over $1,000,000 and he is now ranked as the 11th best golfer in the world.

Juventus crush hopes of a Barcelona comeback

European soccer giants Juventus and Barcelona faced off in the second of two Champions League quarter finals games. Juventus achieved victory in the first game, finishing with a score of 3-0. The second game took place on April 19th and ended in a 0-0 draw.  A number of attacking chances allowed for an exciting game and tremendous defending was seen by both teams. Juventus advance to the semifinals after their 3-0 aggregate victory. Gigi Buffon, the 39 year old Italian goalkeeper had a tremendous performance, earning the clean sheet.  They will participate in a draw with Real Madrid, Monaco, and Atlético Madrid to determine semifinal pairings.
