Plant resigns after four seasons as women’s basketball head coach

Saint Anselm Athletics announced on April 21 that Julie Plant would resign after four seasons at the helm of Hawk women’s basketball. Plant’s resignation was effective immediately. In the interim, Meg Morrissey ’14, current assistant coach, will assume head coaching duties. Hawk Athletics also announced that they have launched a nationwide search to find a fulltime replacement. In Plant’s four seasons on the Hilltop, she posted a 61-49 record. During the 2015-16 season, she led the women’s basketball team to their first NCAA Division II tournament appearance since 1999. This past season, the Hawks went 19-10 under Plant, and made it to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals where they lost to Bentley 81-49.

Hawk Ice hockey programs raise $5,000 for breast cancer research

Both Saint Anselm varsity ice hockey teams held their annual “Pink in the Rink Weekend” fundraiser this past season, selling t-shirts and ribbons with the proceeds going towards breast cancer research. On May 3, both ice hockey teams presented a $5,000 check to Catholic Medical Center. Hawk hockey has held the “Pink in the Rink Weekend” fundraiser every season since 2003.

Hunt ’19 qualifies for NCAA East Regionals

Stephen Hunt ’19 of Hawk golf qualified for the NCAA East Regional Tournament, which is scheduled for May 8-10 in Daniels, WV. Hunt is competing for a spot in the NCAA finals which will be on May 22-26 in Kissimmee, FL. This season, Hunt was the top golfer for St. A’s  in seven of the nine outings the Hawks played in, which included a second place finish at the Bowdoin Invitational and a tie for first place at the NEIGA Championships.
