The Women’s Volleyball team dropped a close matchup with Adelphi last Friday but picked up the victory the following morning against LIU Post.

The Hawks split the first four sets before falling 15-8 in the fifth and deciding set. Junior Catie McCarthy led the Hawks offensively with ten kills while four other Hawks had at least eight kills.

Senior Jewel Hays set the table with 38 assists and four Hawks had over ten digs, McCarthy leading the way with 12. Junior Sara Bisbe had 18 kills for the Panthers, whose victory pushed them to 19-5 on the year, 8-2 in NE-10 play.

The Hawks bounced back with a triumphant 3-1 victory over LIU Post in Brookville, New York on Saturday. Senior Sarah Lowery had an outstanding offensive performance with 21 kills. Freshman Elise Jolly and McCarthy had 12 kills and 10 kills respectively. Hays once again set the table with 46 assists while Freshman Nique D’Ancona paced the Hawks with 17 of the team’s 71 digs.

The Hawks, whose overall record improved to 13-9 on the year will look to make one final push in the last five games of the year as they begin a three-game homestand this week and finish with two games on the road in Connecticut. The Hawks will hope to return to the playoffs and take a run at the NE-10 Championship.
