Women’s ice hockey opens season 4-0

The Saint A’s Women’s Hockey team is riding a 4 game winning streak to start their season. On opening weekend they defeated Neumann University at home in back to back games. They won the first game on Friday November 1 1-0 and their second game on Saturday November 2 by a score of 5-0. On Friday November 7 they defeated Franklin Pierce 2-0 and on November 8 they defeated St. Michael’s 2-1. The Hawks hope to keep the winning streak going this coming weekend when they go on the road to face Holy Cross on Friday November, 14 and Southern Maine on Saturday November, 15.

Men’s hockey drops first 2 games of the season

The Saint A’s Men’s hockey team opened their season at home on Friday November 7 against Babson College and lost by a score of 7-0. On Saturday November 2 they took on Massachusetts-Boston and lost by 3-1. The Hawks hope to rebound from a tough home opening weekend and will try for their first win of the season when they go on the road against Castleton on November 14 and Skidmore on November 15.

 

St. A’s QB earns conference and divisional honors

After a great performance against the University of New Haven, St. A’s quarterback Yianni Gavalas received his third Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, and was one of five quarterbacks in the NCAA Division two to win National D2 Quarterbacks of the Week by Beyond Sports Network. Gavalas had 42 completions in 56 attempts for 439 yards with 3 passing touchdowns. He also had 40 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown.

Volleyball ends season with best record since 2000

The St. A’s Women’s Volleyball team ended their season with a win on Senior Day against Pace University by a 3-1 score. With the win, the Hawks improved to 14-12 which is their first winning record since 2000. The Hawks hope to build off of their great season when they return to action next year.

 

Basketball teams will open seasons this weekend

The St. A’s basketball teams will begin their seasons this weekend. The women have their season opener at home this Friday November 14 against Wilmington and will also play on Saturday November 15 against Felician College. Men’s basketball will begin their season on the road against the University of Bridgeport on Saturday November 15 and will play Dowling College on Sunday November 16.

Field hockey looks to finish season strong

Hawks women’s field hockey defeated Dowling College on Saturday November 8 by a score of 2-1 but lost against LIU Post on Sunday November 9 by a score of 5-1. They hope to finish their season strong in their last two games at home on Wednesday November 12 against Franklin Pierce and on the road on Saturday November 15 against American International.
